Who this study pack is for

Designed for learners who want full module support, not just final revision.

L6M2 sits at the commercial heart of the Professional Diploma. It examines how procurement leaders analyse markets, shape commercial strategy, and make trade-offs across a global operating context.

This module develops your understanding of:

  • PESTLE, Porter’s Five Forces and other strategic analysis tools at global scale
  • International market entry strategies
  • Global sourcing strategies and the trade-offs they carry
  • Trade policy, tariffs, sanctions and regulation
  • Currency, political and country risk
  • Global competitor analysis
  • Developing and executing commercial strategy
  • Measuring commercial performance internationally

As procurement operates in an increasingly volatile global environment, the ability to read markets, build strategy and defend commercial decisions becomes essential. L6M2 builds that capability from first principles to applied exam writing.

L6M2 is assessed by a Constructed Response (CR) written exam, which means you will be required to build structured written arguments that apply commercial strategy concepts to real international procurement scenarios.

Senior commercial professionals If you are an experienced procurement or commercial professional preparing to lead sourcing and strategy across global markets, L6M2 gives you the breadth and depth you need.

Particularly relevant for those working on global category strategy, international sourcing, or commercial planning in multinational environments, this module builds the strategic commercial thinking senior procurement leaders rely on when markets shift and pressure mounts.

Improve and final prep

Refine, rewrite, rest

  • Days 8–9
Receive and read Katie’s feedback carefully. In L4M3, look particularly for any observations about legal accuracy — imprecise use of terms, misidentification of contract elements, or application of the wrong legal principle to a scenario — as well as structural feedback about analytical quality. Both types of gap require different responses in your revision.
  • Day 10

Rewrite any responses Katie identified as weaker, targeting both the legal accuracy and the analytical structure of each answer. For legal accuracy issues, return to the relevant section of the condensed notes before rewriting — getting the concept right in your head before putting it back on paper is more effective than attempting to rewrite from imprecise foundations.

  • Day 11

Attempt two or three further practice questions under full timed conditions. Apply the improvements from the feedback and use the model answers to assess the quality of your responses before the exam.

  • Days 12–14

Light review of the exam technique tips, particularly the guidance on applying legal concepts to scenarios rather than writing generally, and on time management across a three-hour paper. Rest properly. You’ve done the targeted work — your job now is to arrive at the exam clear-headed and ready to write.

Katie Jarvis-Grove

FCIPS CHARTERED · Creator of the Aspire revision packs

Katie has spent over twenty-five years working in procurement across four sectors, achieving Chartered FCIPS status in 2015. She created the Aspire Study Packs after noticing that most CIPS students were either over-revising broad textbooks or under-preparing for the specific demands of the CR exam format. Her approach is deliberate: concise, targeted, and built around what the exam actually tests. The 95% pass rate across all CIPS levels reflects how well it works.

Frequently asked questions

Is this suitable if I haven’t studied at Level 6 before?

The Study Pack is designed to take you from the level of knowledge expected on entry to Level 6 through to confident exam readiness. The slide pack builds the concepts up in a logical order, and pastoral support from LC is available if anything needs unpacking further.

How long will it take to complete this module?

Most students spend 50 to 70 hours on a 6-credit Level 6 module and 70 to 90 hours on a 12-credit core module, depending on prior experience and how many exercises you complete. The study plan above gives a structured weekly approach, but you can work faster or slower to suit your schedule.

Can I access the materials on my phone or tablet?

Yes. All materials are accessible on mobile devices. You can download PDFs and work through the slide pack wherever you are.

What happens if I do not pass the CR exam first time?

Our 95% pass rate reflects the quality of our materials and support. If you need to resit, we provide additional support and feedback to help you succeed on your next attempt.
